Production Control
LJ produces its customers' parts using tested and
consistent order taking, manufacturing, inspection, and shipping
processes. Each job is tracked in real time with bar coded entries
for each operation. In addition, LJ controls its production procedures
as follows:
-
Each order is placed using an order entry form;
-
The order is entered into LJ's system by a data entry person;
-
Upon receipt of the customer's order confirmation, all information
in LJ's system is compared with the confirmation receipt to
insure complete correlation between the two;
-
A shop router is written for each part number LJ produces
consisting of:
-
Each manufacturing and inspection work center involved;
-
Instructions pertaining to each operation;
-
Sign off locations for the operator and inspector to sign
after verifying the operation was performed and inspected;
-
The outside vendors that will be used (eg., anodizer, welder,
etc.) and instructions that will automatically be included
in the purchase order provided to each vendor;
-
Instructions for final inspection including whether a first
article is required for the customer; and
-
Instructions of how to clean and package the part.
-
Each job is globally scheduled with all other active jobs
to calculate the necessary start date as derived from the
machine time necessary at each work center and the promised
delivery date. In addition, LJ's scheduling system allows
it to do a combination of infinite and finite scheduling to
determine the consequences of its scheduling decisions before
finalizing the schedule.
-
The production planner monitors each job and LJ's expediters
ensure any changes by the customer to push out or pull in
a job is entered into the system. In addition, the customer
will be notified in advanced of any changes to the scheduling
plan or any unforeseen difficulties.
The production process is also monitored and standardized
for each part LJ produces. As set forth above, the manufacturing
recipe for each part is contained in the shop router. In addition,
LJ performs a first article inspection process on the first part
of each operation each day and every nth part as determined by
LJs Quality Manager using SPC guidelines.
Finally, each CNC program is Rev. controlled and
once a process is "proven", will not be changed unless
authorized by LJ's management and/or the customer when applicable.
